He does it through a writing style that gives the reader just enough information to keep the reel of the "mind's eye" turning. Some writers lose their readers through complicated schemata that is difficult to follow. Duane Boehm's writing is like a master painting; colorful, clean, and allows the audience to imagine.I have read all of his Gideon Johann books and I highly recommend that if you do read them, start with #1. I think you will be rewarded with a pleasant reading experience complete with surprises, the full range of human emotion and will feel like you were actually there.

I think I am angry now-----------the book is over!!!!!! I hate finishing an EXCELLENT book! Anyone that doesn't like this book has no HEART!!!! If this sounds like I enjoyed "LAST ATONEMENT" then I have made my point!!! OKAY I'M READY-----WHAT'S NEXT?????
I fear that this is the last book about Gideon Johann and his family and friends. If so, I will surely miss them. It was a perfect ending to the guilt that Gideon has felt his entire life. The story could go on with stories about the grown-up children and their lives. I hope so.
After reading this seven book series I find I want more. Duane Boehm has unforgettable characters, stories, and a writing ability that is unbelievable. My emotions were engaged throughout the entire series. I fell in love with all the main characters and lived vicariously through their lives. Westerns is my current obsession, and the Gideon Johann series fuels my need wonderfully. You need to jump in with both feet and ENJOY the trip. Lavonne Jones
The Last Atonement has action packed adventure and fighting on two fronts. If you haven't read the " Gideon Johann Western Series" up to this point, I would strongly advise doing that first. The life of Gideon Johann is a series of adventure,love, friendship lost and the daily grind of a Colorado Sheriff.
Don't miss this series by Duane Boehm, you will surely miss a gread READ!!!!
I have read all the Gideon Johann western series and have greatly enjoyed all of them. Duane makes these novels about family and friends along with the story line. He makes you want to live in The same kind of town with the same kind of friends and family. The hero's are ordinary people just trying to do the right thing. The action and story line are good and keep your interest. You just don't want to put the books down.

DB has written the 7th novel of the Gideon Johann series which includes a murder witnesses by a working lady from a local saloon. GJ chases the necessary data to jail the saloon owner until his court date. While waiting for the trial another murder occurs and the Deputy and Sheriff chase the outlaws from Colorado to Arkansas. They capture one of three outlaws and turn them over to local authorities. GJ goes to the area where he shot the boy in the Civil War. This ids an excellent read for the genre.....ER
I so loved the Johann series! I've read the Ben Blue series and the Shad Cain series also. I'm hoping you'll continue to add to these characters in New writings. In the meantime I might just have to start over to get my fill.
On a side note, I always read on my and I've noticed a lot of errors such as missing words, wrong words like "the" instead of "this" for example and I'm wondering if the person that edits the electronic versions of your books does more than a spell check. Just an fyi, I still love your stories!
